About Me

Dr. Irfan Aslam was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and graduated with his medical doctorate from Dow University of Health Sciences in 1992. In 1993, he moved to the United States to pursue his medical training, landing in Chicago at Michael Reese Hospital – University of Illinois, where he completed both his residency and fellowship in cardiology. In his early years as an attending physician, he practiced in Kentucky, where his efforts to expand access to free and affordable care for underserved patients earned him the title of Kentucky Colonel—the state’s highest civilian honor, awarded by the Governor. He now practices on Florida’s Space Coast, working as a board-certified cardiologist and continuing to serve his community with the same heart he brought with him three decades ago.

Over the years, Dr. Aslam has become a familiar face in APPNA communities across the United States. He served in many leadership roles, including President of DOGANA, President of APPNA Florida Chapter, and Chair of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee. He is known for his fairness, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to service.

In his personal life, Dr. Aslam is a dedicated husband, proud father of three daughters, a passionate cricket fan and avid sports lover, film buff, and someone who deeply values his time with friends and family.

His dream for APPNA is simple and important: advocacy and mentorship for young physicians, women’s leadership, and to grow APPNA’s reach and strengthen its foundation — in both philanthropy and policy — across Pakistan and the United States. He believes APPNA has the potential to lead in healthcare, build lasting community, and pass on a legacy that future generations will be proud of. Dr. Aslam’s vision is shaped by decades of firsthand involvement in every facet of the organization. He knows what APPNA has been, what it can become, and what it needs to get there. He will give everything he has to provide the incredible members the APPNA they truly deserve.
